Posted on March 26, 2014 at 1:58 PM |
WHISPERS OF HOPE with Beth Moore 10 weeks of devotional prayer "Scripture tells us to pray without ceasing, but how in the world do we do that? Best-selling author Beth Moore addresses this question in Whispers of Hope by walking participants through an easy to remember and apply method of prayer, combined with seventy daily devotions. Whispers of Hope teaches the process of powerful scripture-saturated prayer in response to a daily Bible reading. You will better understand how devotional reading and prayer are central to a stronger relationship with God." Join First Christian Church in their journey with Whispers of Hope! Dana ... You sweet "over-achiever"! I'm excited, too! Can't wait to see how God uses this study & grows us during our times of devotion & prayer.

My first time to use the bog ... Wasn't trying to be anonymous . So ladies, if you want to ... You can be anonymous - just leave the name blank.

Ladies, I hope you've gotten off to a great start today! I find some parts of the PRAISE acronym to be easy ... Some are harder for me to grasp. But, it's good to be challenged, right? Two thoughts resonated with me today ... "God wants me to surrender to His will...but I want a blueprint of His plans before I decide ..." Not much evidence of the faith PJ preached about today when I take that approach! Second, "God has a day-by-day plan for my life ... That's why it is so important to meet with Him day-by-day". He will unfold his plan for my life in an orderly way, but I can miss it if I neglect to spend time with Him (daily). Looking forward to hearing from YOU!!

Day 1 I am up to date! It is so easy, and human nature, I guess, to compare our lives to others. How pointless! Our very creative God has an individual plan for each of us. So if I spend time cleaning out closets and painting walls in the name of Jesus, it is ok. Just going to really try to stay in the Word and spend more time intentionally in prayer. I am like Jane Ann (already comparing?) in that some of the acronym is easy but some a little harder to understand how to pray. That's ok, right? I am still a student! Don't forget there is a prayer group tomorrow at 4, [email protected] FCC.

Good morning! I can think of several times when I have fallen into sin. I can be so naive sometimes. "Lord, help me to be alert to the devil's schemes and to accept forgiveness from You and not be caught up in the blame game. In the name of Jesus."

I hadn't made the connection that God's creativity means I should not compare myself to others. (Does everyone do that, or just me!!?) Thanks Trish for that truth!

It's so very easy to fall physically and spiritually when I take my eyes off of my focus.

Its Easy to give up to sin but NEVER to late to begin a life with Christ. When we think of a wound we think of pain. I can't know the pain Jesus went through for me. I can't imagine his scars. I received life from his death. Hard to get my head around that!!!

Good evening all-I am already almost behind
Did yesterdays last night-comforting to know He has different plans for each of us (comparing also). We spent today back in UC tying up loose ends-bittersweet again! THANKS to all our friends who helped, loaned stuff, & prayed for us. We are slowly getting settled. Looking forward to meeting you here!

Day Three: Very important lesson as we break ground on our new church. It must continue to be about God.....not self. Focus....building for the glory of God and His work here on earth.

Kerrie, & Jan, I thought the same thing re: the building. Isn't our God amazingly "relevant" ... always guiding us ... Always faithful!

Maggie, so good to hear from you! How exciting that we can share in this study from any location ... I know a friend who is in Texas & a granddaughter in Carbondale, IL who are also participating.

Got sick and got behind. Heard a little voice saying you always drop the ball. But that's not the Voice of Truth. So I'm digging in now determined to "devote my life to the glory of God" and leave eternal marks. It's pretty cool to think that whether or not I am famous or rich or have the smallest of bank accounts, I can make marks that really count!

I found this a little hard this morning. Following the "prescribed" method to pray seemed a little more of my focus than the actual prayers themselves. I'm sure that will change along with me. Love you all. Have a great day!!

Lol! I have a little trouble "S" and "E"! Those two seem to overlap. I am wondering if God is clapping His hands thrilled that we are putting real thought in to this but also remembering it is a tool. I may just be a little creative (rebellious?) and do SE. : )
